TP-Link device on my network
TP-Link is a large networking brand whose Chinese and US businesses are now separate companies.
What TP-Link makes
TP-Link makes routers, Deco mesh systems, Wi-Fi extenders, USB adapters, switches, Kasa and Tapo smart plugs, bulbs and switches, and Tapo cameras and doorbells.
What the device on your network probably is
Most likely your router, a Deco mesh unit or a Wi-Fi extender. Next most likely a Kasa or Tapo smart plug or bulb. A Tapo camera or doorbell is also possible.
How to work out which device it is
The Deco, Kasa and Tapo apps show each device's MAC address in its settings. Routers and extenders have it on the label. Unplugging devices one at a time also works.
Should you be worried
Usually your own networking gear or smart plug. TP-Link also sells Tapo cameras, so if it is not a router, extender or plug, check whether it is one.
The app finds every device on the Wi-Fi you are on, at home or in a rental, and puts the vendor next to the hostname, the services it advertises and its open ports, which together usually name the product. Where it cannot tell, it says so instead of guessing. Get RECON for iPhone — one-time purchase, no account, nothing leaves the device.
