Samsung device on my network
Samsung Electronics is the South Korean electronics company behind Galaxy phones, Samsung TVs and home appliances.
What Samsung makes
Samsung devices on a home network include smart TVs, soundbars, Galaxy phones, tablets, watches and laptops, SmartThings hubs, and connected fridges, washers and other appliances.
What the device on your network probably is
Most likely a Samsung smart TV. Next most likely a Galaxy phone or tablet with private addressing turned off, a soundbar, or a connected appliance.
How to work out which device it is
On a Samsung TV, look in the network status or About This TV screen in settings. Phones show it in Wi-Fi settings under the network's details. The SmartThings app lists connected appliances.
Should you be worried
Nothing to worry about: it is a Samsung product in your home.
The app finds every device on the Wi-Fi you are on, at home or in a rental, and puts the vendor next to the hostname, the services it advertises and its open ports, which together usually name the product. Where it cannot tell, it says so instead of guessing. Get RECON for iPhone — one-time purchase, no account, nothing leaves the device.
