Roku device on my network
Roku is an American streaming TV company that makes streaming players and the software used in many smart TVs.
What Roku makes
Roku sells streaming sticks, boxes and soundbars, and its software runs on Roku TVs made by several TV brands. It also sells a smart-home line that includes cameras and doorbells.
What the device on your network probably is
Most likely a Roku streaming stick or box, or a TV running Roku. Less often a Roku soundbar or smart-home device.
How to work out which device it is
On the Roku, open Settings, then System, then About (or the Network About page) to see its MAC address. Turning the TV or player off at the wall makes the entry go away.
Should you be worried
Nothing to worry about: it is almost always a TV or streaming player.
The app finds every device on the Wi-Fi you are on, at home or in a rental, and puts the vendor next to the hostname, the services it advertises and its open ports, which together usually name the product. Where it cannot tell, it says so instead of guessing. Get RECON for iPhone — one-time purchase, no account, nothing leaves the device.
