Lite-On device on my network
Lite-On Technology is a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer that makes, among other things, Wi-Fi cards for laptops.
What Lite-On makes
Lite-On builds Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cards fitted to laptops from many major PC brands, as well as power supplies, LEDs and other components. Its wireless cards are built on chips from companies such as Realtek, Qualcomm and Intel.
What the device on your network probably is
Most likely a Windows laptop. Less often a desktop PC, all-in-one PC or a networked device using a Lite-On module.
How to work out which device it is
On each Windows laptop run ipconfig /all and compare the Wireless LAN adapter's Physical Address with the router list. The hostname shown by the router is often the laptop's computer name. Shutting suspects down one at a time also works.
Should you be worried
Nothing to worry about: this is almost always a laptop Wi-Fi card. The name is the card maker, not the laptop brand.
The app finds every device on the Wi-Fi you are on, at home or in a rental, and puts the vendor next to the hostname, the services it advertises and its open ports, which together usually name the product. Where it cannot tell, it says so instead of guessing. Get RECON for iPhone — one-time purchase, no account, nothing leaves the device.
